Biography
Born in England, I emigrated as a small boy with my parents and sister to Rhodesia in 1960. I had the privilege of attending Christian Brothers College in Bulawayo, a school which taught me what I consider to be the solid values that have guided my life. Called up for national service in January 1974, I opted for selection and training as an infantry officer, ending the bush war as a captain in the Rhodesian African Rifles, and receiving the Bronze Cross for gallantry under fire.
In 1980 I left Zimbabwe for South Africa, to begin a career in business-to-business marketing. I ran my own consultancy in Johannesburg for 30 years, and still run it today, though from Spain where I moved in 2016.
I have two grown-up children.
