At Book Cave we’re always looking for ways to connect readers with great free and discounted ebooks, and we have a few very exciting developments to share with you.
Subscriber Magnets (Book Cave Direct)
We’ve just released a streamlined subscriber magnet interface, so author’s can create a subscriber magnet in fewer steps and more easily join subscriber magnet promotions. As with any new programming, there are bound to be a few snags along the way, so please let us know if have any trouble or have any suggestions. Read more about subscriber magnets in our blog post here.
Readers, are you looking for high-quality free ebooks provided by great authors? Check out our Book Cave Direct website.
We are adding editorial and reader reviews. As an author, you will be able to request an editorial review from My Book Ratings that will be posted to the reader blog and that you can quote anywhere to promote your book. You will also be able to request reader reviews, and we will guarantee at least 10 reviews will be posted on retailers.
On the flip side, as a reader, you’ll be able to sign up to become a reviewer; as a reviewer, you’ll be able to receive free copies of books and be entered into some great giveaways. Reader reviews will be managed through the new dashboard interface we are working on.
We are working on modifying the content preferences. When signing up for Book Cave or Book Cave Direct deals, you currently must choose an overall rating that best matches the content rating you want. So if you want Moderate+ violence and only Mild swearing or intimacy, you still have to sign up for the overall rating of Moderate+ (see more about how our content ratings work here). We plan to modify this system to allow you to sign up for each level individually and only receive books that match your exact preferences within each of the ratings. For example, if you were to sign up for books with Moderate+ violence but only Mild swearing or intimacy, you’d only receive Moderate+ books where the swearing or intimacy levels are no higher than Mild. We believe this gives you more choices which will mean more great books to read and love.
This update is now on our radar and we’re brainstorming ways to make it work: an availability calendar that authors can check before submitting a book for promotion, so they know what days are already full at time of submission. Because we limit the number of books we promote daily, we require a minimum number of free deals daily, we don’t schedule more than a few books with the same content rating, and we make sure books on the same day don’t even have similar genre and content rating combinations, this calendar will take quite a bit of coding to get right.
In addition to the free and discounted ebooks on our site, we often have fun contests that subscribers can enter, and they range from reader T-shirt giveaways, reader mugs, and chances to win ereaders.
My Book Ratings
My Book Ratings is gaining more and more books. This site is a database of books with community-submitted content ratings and official MBR ratings. Readers can search this site to discover whether a book has the content levels they want to read, and they can submit ratings for books they’ve read. We are in the process of posting books to My Book Ratings; we have 26,785+ books posted, and are constantly adding more!
Our goal with these changes is to bring you more high-quality, free and discounted ebooks. And you can be sure that we’ll keep you up-to-date on the changes we make.
Thank you for your support of content-rated books. We couldn’t do this without your support, and we hope you’ll share our site with all your book-loving friends.
