Our 7 Favorite Reading Snacks

I'm a book wyrm

One day, while munching on a Halloween chocolate bar and reading a content-rated book, we began to ponder what snacks go best with reading. Of course, chocolate was at the top of our list, but here are a few more snacks we love.

hot chocolate @ Book Cave - content-rated books
Okay, so we already mentioned chocolate, but how can one resist the lure of hot chocolate now that winter is approaching? Just look at that creamy goodness. This definitely makes any book rating more savory.
french fries @ Book Cave - content-rated books
French fries are meant for munching on with one hand, which makes them a perfect snack when you’re reading an ebook. They aren’t for everyone, but that salty goodness goes great with reading (make sure to keep a napkin close!).
pretzels @ Book Cave - content-rated books
Pretzels are another salty, easy-to-eat snack food. They’re cheap to buy too, and aren’t messy at all. And they are only that much better with a handful of your favorite chocolate chips thrown in.
Cheese-its @ Book Cave - content-rated books
We know what you’re thinking: Cheez-its are messy. But they’re fine to eat while reading if you eat them with chopsticks. To shake it up, try a flavor different from original, like the chipotle cheddar Cheez-its.
cheese and crackers @ Book Cave - content-rated books
This takes a little preparation, but snacking on cheese cubes (with or without crackers) while reading is very satisfying. It also makes a great snack if you’re feeling hungry and dinner is still a couple hours away.
Fruit Snacks @ Book Cave - content-rated books
Fruit snacks are actually a great reading treat; they are full of flavor and satisfy sugar cravings, yet are small and go a long way.
berries @ Book Cave - content-rated books
Fruit—not just any fruit. Small fruit, like raspberries, blueberries, and cranberries. Frozen grapes are also very good. This might be one of the best snacks because not only is it healthy, it also gives you the slight sugar boost you may be needing as you wend your way through another great content rated book.

Warning: We have discovered that snacking and reading can be dangerous if you don’t prepare pre-portioned servings!

What do you like to snack on while reading? We would love to hear! Please post your comments below.

I used to love popcorn and M&Ms while reading! Now I’ve graduated to Dove chocolate.

I love to eat apples when I read. It started when I was a kid. I told my mom I was hungry and bored. She handed me an apple and said, “Go read.” I did and found that this one-handed eating thing worked great!
