How to Promote Your Ebook on Instagram

Instagram is one of many social media platforms you can use to promote your work. Check out this list for ideas on how to promote your ebook on Instagram.

Note: Remember, you don’t have to promote your book on every social media outlet. Choose just a couple to avoid being overwhelmed. If you love love pictures, then definitely give Instagram a try.

1. Create a business page.

When you create a business page, people can contact you, and you can view statistics on which of your posts work better. This way, you can improve your posts and keep in contact with readers.

2. Fill out the profile information.

Make sure to fill out information about who you are and what you write. Include a link to your website.

3. Post consistently.

If you’ve chosen to use Instagram, you need to be consistent. A good frequency is one to two times a day. At the very minimum, post once every two weeks.

4. Follow readers who are interested in what you write.

5. Spend most of your time connecting with readers and offering them something of value.

Again, do more than just promote your ebooks on Instagram. Connect with your readers by responding to and re-posting their posts. Offer something of value, like funny or interesting book-related images, or a great discount.

6. Post teasers, quotes, pictures of scenes from your book.

This lets people know who you are and how great your book is without being pushy.

7. Snap photos with your phone.

Taking pictures with your phone is easy and authentic. Just make sure they are interesting before posting. You could take pictures of your work space, something you accomplished that day, your printed book, a fun activity, etc.

8. Re-purpose content from your Facebook and Twitter posts.

If you’ve posted something on Facebook or Twitter—or even on your blog—try to think of ways you can express those same thoughts in an image instead.

9. Promote your ebook on Instagram by posting a giveaway contest for one of your books.

You could ask contestants to compete to win your book by sharing a photo with a theme that relates to the book, and you either choose one randomly or choose the one you like best. Choose a hashtag to go along with the contest so you can keep track of all the entries and so those who see the images will learn about you and your book.

10. Take advantage of the editing function and photo filters in Instagram.

Experiment and make your photos more interesting! Funny or amazing pictures have the best results.

11. Look for the best time to post.

Vary the times you post until you find times that get the best results, then always post during those times.
