The holiday season doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Some of the best gifts I’ve received were gifts that were handmade by friends and family with me in mind. There’s something about knowing that someone took the effort to not only think of a gift for you, but also take time out of their busy holiday schedule to then create that gift for you. Plus, I’m not a very crafty person myself, so it’s extra nice when someone with talent makes cute crafty things for me. So, if you’re still struggling to decide what to get for the book lover in your life, then perhaps one of the cute and thoughtful gifts for book lovers below will inspire you.

1. Personalized Bookmarks

If the book lover in your life is anything like me, they probably have difficulty keeping track of their bookmarks and end up using a variety of “whatever is closest” items as bookmarks. Help alleviate this problem by creating a bundle of personalized bookmarks for them. These bookmarks can be created from simple card stock, and can contain things like quotes from their favorite books or cute bookish sayings, or they can even be created from the spines of old books for an even more elegant take.

2. Paper Flowers Made From Their Favorite Books

They’ll be able to display their favorite books in a unique and unusual way. Although I cannot in good conscience promote purchasing a new book for the purpose of turning it into crafts. Check out your local second-hand bookstores to see if you can find older copies to revive into crafts. There are a couple different styles of book flowers you can create; check them out below and click your favorite version to learn how to create them.

3. A Personalized Book That Tells Your Story

It could be a story about how you met, how you fell in love, this past year of your life together, or an inside story that you can’t get enough of. There’s several different platforms out there that will help you create this book, and any book or non-book lover is sure to love this thoughtful gift.

4. DIY Snowflake Ornaments

These Holiday ornaments are sure to be as unique as your book lover. These ornaments can be made from the pages of your book lover’s favorite books, Christmas stories, or any great second-hand book you’re able to find. Follow these instructions by Tifani Lyn to make some one-of-a-kind snowflake ornaments for your book lover. book snowflake

However, one hobby of her’s has never changed, and that’s reading. She’s been an avid reader for as long as she can remember, crushing summer reading challenges and getting in heated debates with her friends.

I agree with Mared. It would make me very unhappy to receive a gift made from a destroyed book. The only one of these ideas I consider acceptable is the created book. That one I would love to receive.

You need to correct spelling on the bookmarks. The spine of the books uses says “spins.” Should be spelled spines.

I love these ideas. Unfortunately, neither one of my kids loves to read. I would love to have a few close friends who read.

Destroyed books – what a gift for a book lover! Yes, I know books die naturally, but putting them on display? Find out how the book lover in your life feels about it. These gifts could outrage rather than please.
