Description
After twenty years of fighting, the Emerlee Compact finally won their independence from the oppressive Solarian Empire. The space station Bedford sits right at the edge of the Galactic Rift, the space between arms of the Milky Way. Unfortunately, not all were freed. The peaceful Wa’bah’nja’kae, the indigenous race on this side of the Rift, remain a conquered people. They were also the solution to Humanity’s sanity as some are psychic healers.
When Hogon, member of the Wa’bah’nja’kae, cleanses a station worker’s mind, he learns that a murder is about to be committed at the Solarian League Peace Conference. He can’t tell the authorities as no Human knows the truth about his people.
Hogon’s best friend is assassinated and he is framed for it. How can Hogon stop the murder of the delegate, clear himself of his buddy’s death, and find the assassin in time to prevent a resumption of hostilities between Emerlee and the Solarians? Time, and popular opinion are not on his side.
