Chris Murphy arrives in a small New England town looking for a fresh start. Abandoned by his free-spirited wife, he faces the challenges of raising his little girl alone while taking on a new career assignment in a strange place.

As the last warm breezes of summer fade and crisp autumn winds bring sparkling colors to the trees, Chris kindles a new love affair that grows into a torrid, passionate romance. When he meets his new neighbors in the Maine village—some warm and friendly, others cold and mysterious—he wonders if his new home is as quaint as it appears to be. Deep secrets simmer within the town and soon strange accidents befall its residents.

As danger threatens Chris and those closest to him, he becomes drawn into the search for the source of an ancient curse with roots in medieval mysticism, long forgotten New England hatreds, and the terror of Nazi Europe.
