Amongst the red foxes I am rare—through and through. Those who know me call me by name: Emma Johansson—but I know myself in many forms. My life, and shape, is constantly changing, and so too must I conform to a world that has caused me endless suffering and loss.
It was the brutal murder of my father, Nick, that sent me down this terrible path. After my wretched and jealous uncle James took my father’s life, it was then that my people, the red foxes, were plunged into a deadly and disgusting war with the Vampires.
Now here I am alone, lost, and uncertain—come to beg upon the mercy of werewolves to help us and free me of this vengeful fate.
What will become of me if I cannot convince these beasts to come to our aid?
What life have I chosen for myself if they do?
I must have hope—and strength—for there is more darkness to come, that I know well. And yet there may also be more in store for a red fox as rare as me, as I have seen in the eyes of a young werewolf named Derrick. Perhaps he holds the key to my salvation. Only time will tell . . .
For I am the red fox, and my story is only beginning.
