As Thanksgiving approaches, we start thinking about all the things we’re grateful for. As a reader, here are some of the reader-related things I’m grateful for this season.

  1. All the great books I can ask for this Christmas.
  2. The ability to read.
  3. My parents, for instilling in me a love of reading.
  4. My favorite books and authors.
  5. Sharing my love of reader and my favorite books with friends and family.
  6. Having vacation time to read one more book.
  7. Being able to travel the world, universes, and time, all from the comfort of my couch.
  8. The new ideas, viewpoints, and words I learn about in books (even if I end up pronouncing those words incorrectly).
  9. Online communities of readers, where we can all talk about the books we loved reading.
  10. My own collection of my favorite books, and all the bookcases they’re displayed in.
  11. Book clubs: books + friends. Need I say more?
  12. My local library, where I can be surrounded by books, discover new favorites, and read in a quiet and peaceful environment.
  13. Ebooks, because they’re so easy to buy and read right away. I can read more books now than ever.

What reader-related things are you grateful for?

Happy reading!

I go to the library a lot and I love it. It’s not a peaceful and quiet place because the kids are noisy. I agree with the rest.

I am now and always will be thankful for my mother, every Tuesday she drove me to the library and let me get what ever books I wanted to, she read all the books I checked out as well. She passed in 2009 and I will always be a reader because of her.

I’m grateful for all of the things mentioned in the above article/list! I would also be very happy with more time to enjoy the aforementioned!! There are so many things to be thankful for! We really need to take the time to reflect on and be thankful for all we have.

All the above and the pleasure of being locked into a book with the characters for several hours. A good book is hard to put down and leave!

You’ve listed them all in a better way than I could have.
I only would add one and that’s good health. Can’t take that one for granted.
    Thank you Meenaz!
