Books Everyone Should Read in Their 20s

Life is an interesting cycle of evolution and of moments of redefining ourselves. During a lifetime, one can change a thousand times, each time discovering new aspects of themselves, of their personality.

But there’s one specific time in our life where one is designed to change, learn, and grow the most—our 20s. Everyone is evolving differently in their 20s but, the way they live their 20s and the lessons they learn in this period are going to define their next period of life.

Our 20s it the time when we leave our childhood behind and turn into a responsible grownup. But to have a beautiful transition, you must gain knowledge, to understand more aspects of life, and to broaden your mind, because there’s more to our life than what we see with our eyes.

What better way to become more knowledgeable and discover new aspects of life than reading amazing books? I honestly don’t know, but what I know is that some books can definitively change the course of your life for the better.

So, read on to discover the top 10 books everyone should read in their 20s.

1. The Defining Decade

There’s no better book you should read in your 20s than The Defining Decade by Meg Jay, said one of the best paper writing services. As the title says, we are forming ourselves in this period of life and Meg succeeds in pointing out the importance of this decade extremely well.

2. The Alchemist

There’s a wonderful quote from this book that describes the best of what this book is about: “Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.” –Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist.

The Alchemist is one of those books that catches your attention with an amazing story and then spices everything up with words of wisdom about life and how to find your purpose in life.

3. Quiet: The Power of Introverts

The world divides into two big categories of people—introverts and extroverts. With extroverts, everything is simple, their social life comes easy. But introverts often feel socially awkward and struggle with themselves.

This book of Susan Cain will change any introvert’s life and may become their favorite book.

4. How to Win Friends and Influence People

There are some secrets in life that the sooner you discover, the sooner you manage to make the best out of your life, related the experts from Brill Assignment. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie is one of those books that has stayed a best seller from 1936 for a reason.

5. Man’s Search for Meaning

Life isn’t all rainbows and butterflies. In fact, that’s merely a small part of life that we all struggle to reach. Victor Frankl’s book presents to the young minds that life can be a living hell, but the power of our belief and hope can get us through the hardest situations.

6. Into the Wild

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a book with a powerful message. It’s about a young boy that decides to take the world into his own hands and live in the wild all by himself. It presents the journey of knowing yourself, which is difficult to do in this modern era, and it leaves us with the moral, “don’t go into the wild all by yourself.”

7. Start with Why

Sometimes we forget to ask ourselves “why?”, to search for the reason behind our every action, every thought, and every emotion. Simon Sinek discovered the power of starting with your why and wrote a powerful book that will change your perspective about life.

8. The Year of Magical Thinking

The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion is a memoir that will answer all your questions that you may have about loss and making sense out of something that seems at first senseless.

Some may say that this book is best read when you’re settled and married, but it contains way too many lessons that are best known in your formative decade.

9. The Fall

There are books that melt your heart and you never want to end, and there’s Albert Camus book, The Fall, which makes you question everything you once knew to be true. Right and wrong, good and evil will become two different concepts in your mind.

10. Modern Romance: An Investigation

Aziz Ansari’s book, Modern Romance, is “an investigation” about why love and dating are no longer what it used to be and it describes why today’s love life is so different from what your parents have experienced. I found this subject intriguing and good to know if you’re in your twenties.

Conclusion

I understand that we’re different people and some books from this list won’t resonate with you. The point is that even if you only read a few books from this list, your 20s will be shaped differently, more wisely.

What books do you think everyone should read in their 20s?

Happy Reading.

I think that everyone in their formative years(12 - 112) should read the Holy Bible. It seems that every time you read it you learn something that will enhance your life! I regret not reading the Bible until I was 56! I am stronger and have more peace in my life even when I migrate through the most harrowing stages, from family betrayal to the death of a wonderful parent! If I but knew that as a developing person, my life would have been so great!
