If you have young children, you may have heard about Usborne books in your search for fun picture books to buy your kids. The official title of the company is Usborne Books and More. It was created in 1989 and is the direct sales division of Educational Development Corporation.
What Kind of Books Does Usborne Books and More Offer?
Usborne offers original children’s books for a variety of ages—from babies and toddlers up through middle grade fiction. The books usually have illustrations and are creative, educational, and engaging. The books for toddlers are especially fun with their bright illustrations—some also have additional fun elements, like flaps, sliding parts, mirrors, textures, or even wheels.
This is one of my toddler’s favorite Usborne books. He loves sliding the moving parts and watching the animals play.
Where Can I Buy Usborne Books?
Because Usborne Books and More is a direct sales division, you cannot buy their children’s books from local bookstores or super store. Instead, you can buy the books directly from the company’s site. But if you’re buying Usborne books anyway, you should support a friends or neighbor who is a consultant with Usborne and add them as your consultant online before checking out—that way, they get the commission (doing so does NOT increase what you pay for the book).
You may also find that some consultants keep an inventory or have an upcoming house party. That means you don’t have to pay shipping and can see the books in person before buying, so it’s always worth checking with friends and neighbors to see if any of them are a consultant.
I’ve also discovered that the local farmer’s market in my area often has a booth with an Usborne Books and More consultant, so if none of your friends and family are consultants, you may want to check your local farmer’s market before buying online.
And finally, Usborne gives discounts for schools or organizations to host a book fair with Usborne books, so you can check with your child’s school to see if they are going to (or are interested in) organizing a book fair through Usborne.
What about Digital Books for Kids?
Usborne Books and More only offers physical books, so if you want to save some money and grab a few digital children’s books to offset the cost of print books, you can check out our daily deals page for discounted middle grade and picture ebooks! Each book is given a genre and movie-like content rating, so you know exactly what your children are reading.
You can also check out our listing of children’s books in our rated books database—most of these are not discounted, but they are usually reasonably priced and all have a content rating as well.
