I recently put up The Hordes of Haran for pre-order, and while the last details on that book are in the works, I'm getting started on a new cozy urban fantasy series. The Kergulen Series has been a lot of fun, and finishing it is a thrill, but I also can't wait to really dig in to something new.

Biography

I've loved fantasy for as long as I can remember, and I've enjoyed writing since I was a child. During my early adulthood I developed an appreciation for diversity of appearance, culture, and personality. This appreciation became a passion for a message, the message of peace and cooperation between individuals of different backgrounds, the message that we should love and value our differences, not merely tolerate them. In 2010, my husband and I adopted an African American baby with severe medical disabilities. This was a demonstration of our passion, which has in turn lead to greater passion. All of this has fueled my stories. This, and a desire to laugh. I laugh a lot when I write. I laugh even more when I've forgotten what I wrote and then read it later.

Do You Listen to Music While Writing? What Kind?

I listen if I need it to drown out background noise, which is often the case. What kind of music really depends on what kind of scene I'm writing. I might go with Enya, hobbit music, NEEDTOBREATHE, Jason Mraz, or and upbeat playlist. It all depends.

Favorite Character You Created

It's hard to pick a favorite, but I'm going to say Venai because she wasn't meant to be anything, but she came alive without my permission and ended up being someone people will remember.
