Biography
I am a medical research scientist by training but have found a new passion in writing fictional stories that are scientifically accurate. My first novel, Time Intertwined, evolved from a personal experience in which a DNA test unexpectedly revealed an unknown family member who had been born in Vietnam during the war. As I wrote a fictional story inspired by his, I knew I wanted to weave in the true story of Agent Orange. Agent Orange was an herbicide used by the US during the war to destroy enemy food crops and jungle foliage. Unfortunately, it was unintentionally contaminated with dioxin--a highly toxic compound that continues to plague not only exposed veterans and civilians, but also their children and grandchildren. In Time Intertwined, my goal was to tell a compelling family saga that also shed light on the unintended consequences of Agent Orange. Ultimately, it also led me to discover a love of writing fiction. For me, writing fiction is like creating a puzzle made of words. I'm completely hooked on the process and I truly hope others find favor with what I create.
