Biography
Helen Haught Fanick grew up in West Virginia and now lives in Texas, and both states provide settings for her novels. Her work includes cozy mysteries, suspense novels, a World War II espionage novel, and short stories, all available as e-books. The novels are also available in paperback.
A short story impressed Helen’s fifth grade teacher, and she’s been writing ever since. She’s won several local and state awards and two national awards in the Writer’s Digest Competition. Moon Signs, Book I of the Moon Mystery Series, was a quarter-finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards. Helen is a graduate of UTSA and lives near the town of Bee Cave.
Hi Helen,
Clyde and I were perusing through your new list of books and audios. Impressive! Curious, you said you like to write by soft music – what kind of music do you like?
Luv,
Judy
Hi Judy – I love all kinds of music, but I listen to light classical when writing. It’s a nice background music that doesn’t interfere with my thinking. Austin has a nice NPR station that plays mostly light classical, or I can listen on my TV. Spectrum has an assortment of music channels.
Thanks for asking!
Love, Helen
I met Ms. Fanick this past October at the Amtrak lounge in Chicago. We talked for a while and she gave me
an autographed book, Moon phase, and asked me if I would tell her what a really thought about. I was honored to be asked, as I do read a lot, mostly mysteries. I told her I would read it and be honest about what I thought. Unfortunately, when I was half way through it, and loving it, I believe I left it in Chicago when I was in a rush to catch my train. I would so love to get in touch with her so I can finish the book. I hope this will help me,
as I was so upset when I realized I had left it behind. Thank you so much. Bonnie
Hi Bonnie –
Can you send your address to me at helenfanick@gmail.com? I’ll send you another copy. Thanks for the contact!

Thank you so much for replying to me. I felt so foolish about losing the book. I really enjoyed what I read and can’t wait to finish it. For starters
I like the way you wrote without all those long, boring descriptions of things like a room or a house, etc. You get right to the point and I loved that. I also love your two sisters. And my sincere thanks for sending me another copy. I also intend to read the rest of the series.
