Description
Desert dragons, deadly sandstorms, and a fierce girl with the heart of a fighter.
In the heart of the desert lies a secret city carved from the stone of a massive butte. The reclusive people within are protected by Windwalkers—warriors who bond and ride deadly black-feathered dragons they call kiraeen.
Kiva Fariq, a headstrong girl with veins full of fire, was born to fly on the back of a kiraeen. There’s just one problem: women are strictly forbidden from bonding the lethal avian predators. With fierce determination, Kiva risks everything in a defiant attempt to become what society says she cannot: the first female Windwalker.
Should she fail, the kiraeen will surely kill her. Should she succeed, her people will banish her.
In the midst of her struggle, Kiva discovers signs of an ancient enemy on the eastern plains. Monstrous warriors, once believed to be legend, are closer than anyone realizes. Can Kiva convince her people to act in time, or will they be buried in a tomb of sand and stone?
