Description
In 1848, Ellen Craft, a slave in Macon, Georgia, posed as a white man, while her husband pretended to be her slave as they ran 1,000 miles to freedom. The Vanishing Woman is based on an incredible true story—one of the greatest stories on the Underground Railroad. Ellen and William Craft put the Fugitive Slave Law to its first major test, bringing attention to their plight all of the way to the White House.
