Description
For the past three years, author John Renouard has been fighting to end the practice of sexually cutting young girls—a nefarious tradition called Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) that typically precedes the selling of these underaged girls, ages 9-15, to much older men as so-called “child brides.”
In the communities where this tradition still exists, over 85% of all the women have been or will be forcibly cut. But we are fighting back! With the support of John’s award-winning nonprofit WHOlives.org, we have done some amazing work to both rescue and protect these at-risk girls and to end this horrible practice.
As part of this effort, two years ago, John wrote the book The Value of a Daughter. The bold message is aimed at men who continue to support this grotesque practice, making it clear that fathers have a choice: to either harm or protect their daughters, and each decision carries with it a profound consequence of good or misery.
Through the encouragement of his supporters, John was asked to make this book available to the public. “It is unbelievable that this abhorrent tradition still exists today,” he said. “Our goal in publishing The Value of a Daughter is to expose this brutality to the world in hopes of putting a permanent end to this practice.”
