Description
Ruby Slippers is a 32-year-old woman trapped under the thumb of her controlling, narcissistic mother. Bound by guilt and a lifetime of unmet expectations, her world revolves around her mother’s demands, leaving little room for her own dreams. Her only respite comes from her job at Berston’s Grocery store, where she finds a glimmer of solace.
When Ruby stumbles upon a list of goals she wrote at twelve—goals like learning to roller skate and finding love—she realizes how far her life has strayed from her youthful aspirations. In an effort to please her mother, she agrees to a blind date that her mother arranges, and soon she finds herself engaged. When the wedding goes awry, Ruby flees the church, boarding a tour bus to Niagara Falls while still in her wedding gown, her face streaked with tears and mascara. On this trip of a lifetime, she makes new friends who open her eyes to the possibilities of achieving her dreams, and she meets someone who shows her what true love really is.
