Description
Baltimore, 1966
12-year-old Dara Burke has always been a handful. She prefers dodge ball to dolls and never backs down from a fight. Growing up with three brothers, she figures a girl needs sharp elbows and a big fist to get her way.
So far 1966 hasn’t been so great for Dara. After her dad left, she and her mom fight all the time. And soon her big brother will leave for Vietnam. But it’s almost summer vacation, the best time of all. Then Dara and her pal Fran can hang out all they want, even if her pesky little brother Alvey had to tag along.
Then one day the dead boy whispers in Dara’s ear, warning her about the bad man who was coming.
Across town, Patrolman Stan Gorsky lives the good life. He loves his family and likes his job. When the first little boy dies and Stan soon finds himself in the crosshairs of a murder investigation.
More death and strange incidents occur. As a dark web tightens around Dara and those she loves, Patrolman Stan Gorsky trails a merciless killer. The bad man who hunts the little children of Baltimore.
In this countdown to murder, only a twelve-year-old girl and a single police officer stand against the bad man.
