Woodrow Wilson Oaks knows he is different from everyone else at Pine Creek Middle School. Being sprouted from a seed is his first clue. As Sprout searches for answers, his adoptive brother and sister search for ways he can use his super powers. Being a superhero doesn’t appeal to Sprout, but when an ancient bristlecone pine reveals himself as Spout’s guardian, and tells Sprout he’s been placed on earth with a specific mission, he decides to develop his powers. But before he has a chance to receive any instructions, his guardian is gone.
