Description
Sara lived through the Great Depression, two wars, and segregation at its height. In 1943, in pursuit of their dreams, Sara and her husband, Ben, moved their small family from the Southside of Chicago to a home in an all Colored, working-class neighborhood in Berkeley, California. Easily finding her rhythm in her new surroundings, on the face of it, Sara’s life seemed all music and laughter, but listening closely, you can faintly hear the dissonant chords of Sara’s song.
