Description
While I am now rapidly approaching the 75th “diamond jubilee” anniversary of my years on the planet, my journey as an autograph hound began when I was twelve years old. I still have an occasional opportunity to reach out to a star, and I’ve been collecting autographs for almost 65 years. And you know what? I still feel a tingle every time I do. While many of my large collection were acquired by friends, by mail, at auctions, and flea markets, the ones I prize the most are those I acquired in person. In most instances, it is less about the signing and more about the communication with the stars surrounding the signings.
Since I’ve been a psychotherapist for over forty years, I occasionally wander into reflections on the psychology of autograph seeking. But you will find that no matter what hat I am wearing when I write, autographs for me are all about feelings.
