My name is Adora McCarthy. And I’m a witch. The problem is, I don’t want to be one anymore. See, witchcraft, magic, and all of the ups and downs that come with it are what got my mother killed.

So, I decided to pack my life up and move from my tiny hometown in Alabama to the big old city of Portland, Oregon. I’m going to live a normal life. I’m going to find a job and marry a very normal, very human man. We’ll have some kids, and I’ll live out the rest of my life without the burden of magic.

At least, that was my plan. But life has a funny way of turning you upside down and all the way around and, apparently, that was what it had planned for me in Portland. Complete with the man of my dreams, who’s even less normal than I am.
