Description
Several years after Christ’s crucifixion, Pontius Pilatus is accused of using excessive force to stop a revolt by Samaritans in Judea and is ordered to return to Rome. Hoping to retire to a quiet life studying history and philosophy, instead he is caught up in the dangerous politics of Rome. He must face Caligula’s judgment, as his wife secretly attends Christian gatherings. He becomes involved in his wife’s religious life, traveling with her to Greece, to meet with Christian leaders, including the apostle, Paul. Pilate’s character is tested and evolves, battling one crisis after another, while he struggles with guilt from his role in Christ’s trial.
“This could have become a romp through self-pity. But it’s not. It is a human look at a very real man, his relationships to friends, family, and strangers.” “The characters are well developed and their personal growth throughout the story is engaging.” —Amazon reviews.
