Quincy Black, a 27-year-old lawyer who just returned home to Kansas city after graduating from Harvard law, is unable to get a job because of the color of his skin. He is approach by a business man named James Cantone. After Quincy wins a case for James, James realize how smart and intelligent Quincy is, so James gives Quincy a job.

But after taking a certain case for James, Quincy realizes that he is dealing the head of the mafia. Quincy tries to cut ties with James, but James threaten to kill Quincy and his whole family if he does. Now Quincy must find a way to get rid of James while keeping his family safe.
