Description
Lane Cary’s the laid back, outgoing kind of guy that everyone loves. Especially girls. Young, old, in-between, they all flirt with him. I’m not sure they can help it. It doesn’t make it easy, though.
He has perfectly messy sandy hair, a lean, athletic body, and eyes as bright as the sun and deep as the ocean. If that’s not enough to convince you, he has a smile that makes you smile no matter what. And when his dimples make an appearance, you won’t be able to resist. Even I—the girl who’s known him since diapers—can’t help but sigh.
But things between us are . . . complicated.
Especially since he kissed me, I kissed him back, and we’re keeping it all a secret.
It’s a big deal for so many reasons, including our friends having a rule against dating within the group.
But our lives are about to change even more.
He’s leaving for a four-year university, and I’m stuck in high school. He says he’ll come home on the weekends, but will he get tired of that? College girls are pretty and there. I’m stuck back home in our podunk, small town.
Our families are sure college life will, like so many others before him, entice him to make new friends and even fall in love. If their predictions come true, I’ll be just another high school girl left behind.
Is it inevitable what we have, including our friendship, will die? Or will we be able to hold on to more than a kiss?
