Description
I lost it and killed a man. He attacked me first, but that doesn’t excuse what I did. I served some time, paid my debt, but that doesn’t stop me from seeing myself as a murderer. I was drummed out of the Army Rangers and sent home in disgrace. Now I run my father’s ranch—a man who abused my sister and me in the past, and shows nothing but contempt for me now.
To distract myself from the mess I’ve made of my life, I spend my spare time training civilians to fight. No, it ain’t exactly legal and I don’t question their reasons for wanting to take my course. But it has good job satisfaction and helps me keep my own skills sharp.
My clients are usually young guys who think they’re a lot tougher than they really are. Many of them don’t make it through the training. But then along comes this slender, beautiful, dark-eyed woman who turns out to be made of steel underneath. She’s going to make it to the end of this course, and she might even steal my heart while she’s at it.
I won’t let that happen. I can’t afford to lose anything else.
