He’s just what she needed . . . and she’s everything he never knew he wanted.
When I became a bartender at the Walker brothers’ family brewery, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine it would lead to falling for their famous little sister. I hoped to meet her, sure. But actually have a chance with her? No way.
Yet here she is, wound up like a spring because she can’t seem to find the words for her new country album, so I tell her I know exactly what she needs. If she wants the words to flow, she’s gotta let go and have some experiences worth writing about.
I provide her with a slew of small-town adventures to inspire her songs, and I do my best not to fall for her in the process since I know this is only temporary.
But then I fail. Miserably. I’m so gone for this woman it isn’t funny. And that’s bad, because Granite Springs isn’t her home anymore—Nashville is—and when this album is complete, she has to leave.
But hey, it wouldn’t be a country album without songs about heartbreak, now would it?
