Description
This is the story of a little girl, Melisa, who struggled in poverty in Eastern Europe.
The story opens in 1985, when she is six years old. Despite the hardships she faces, she maintains a positive outlook until winter comes. The story recounts her sadness and simple prayer little Melisa offered up for a pair of boots. Even though the end result may be predictable for older readers, this is a wonderful reminder on several levels: First, it helps children to broaden their horizons and remember those less privileged. Second, it encourages us to find ways to give to others. Lastly, it captures the wonder of a miracle in the eyes of a child.
Sometimes the simplest tale can help to get through and make an impact on our children.
