Description
Back in London, a series of bodies have been found—with familiar deep burns running up their arms. Rey Morfin rushes to investigate, hoping that access to more of the Root will help him control the Shadow that dwells within him.
Meanwhile, Anna also watches out for signs of the Root, intending to fulfill her promise to the mother of the Burning Boy: that she’ll destroy it once and for all.
When they discover each other’s motives, Rey and Anna are at odds—and race to find those responsible. However, young, stubborn Detective Choudhury also enters the fray as he seeks them for the death of Stephen Winterbourne.
How much can they attribute these crimes to the corruption of the Root . . . and how much to the perversions of humanity?
Sequel to Life at the End of the Road.
