Gladriel was half Elf. If you were an Elf, he was half human. Mixed breeds weren’t usually allowed to become Knights, but he had the chance to study at the Lackland Academy, and that meant he might actually make it. The journey from his home to Lackland was long, and usually boring. His journey might well be the end of his story, instead of the beginning. Trying to become a Knight was supposed to involve training, but Gladriel never expected survival training on this level. What would he become, on this journey, a Knight, an adventurer, a vagabond? Perhaps something else altogether.
