201. Ludwik Fleck Prize:
The Ludwik Fleck Prize is awarded by the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) for an outstanding book in the field of science and technology studies (STS). The prize honors the memory of Ludwik Fleck, a Polish-born scientist and philosopher of science. Books nominated for this award should significantly contribute to the field of science and technology studies, exploring topics such as the social, cultural, political, and ethical dimensions of science and technology.
202. Macavity Awards:
The Macavity Awards are literary awards presented annually by Mystery Readers International (MRI) for excellence in mystery fiction. The awards are named after the “mystery cat” in T.S. Eliot’s poem “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” Mystery, thriller, suspense, and crime fiction novels and short stories published in the previous year are eligible for nomination. The awards are open to both established and emerging authors.
203. Margaret Edwards Award:
The Margaret A. Edwards Award is presented annually by the American Library Association (ALA) to honor an author, as well as a specific body of his or her work, for significant and lasting contribution to young adult literature. Eligible authors must have published at least two works of fiction for young adults.
204. Marilyn Brown Novel Award:
The Marilyn Brown Novel Award is an annual award presented by the Midwest Book Awards to honor the best novel written by a Midwestern author or set in the Midwest. The award is open to novelists who reside in or have significant ties to the Midwest region of the United States. Self-published works are also eligible.
205. Marion Vannett Ridgway Award:
The Marion Vannett Ridgway Award is an annual award presented by the Western Writers of America (WWA) for the best historical fiction book published in the previous year. The award is open to works of historical fiction set in the American West, including novels, novellas, and short story collections.
206. Mary Tanenbaum Award for Nonfiction:
The Mary Tanenbaum Award for Nonfiction is an annual award presented by the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame to honor an author for outstanding work in nonfiction. The award is open to authors who have made significant contributions to the field of nonfiction literature, including biographies, memoirs, essays, and investigative journalism.
207. Massachusetts Book Award:
The Massachusetts Book Award is presented annually by the Massachusetts Center for the Book to honor significant works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and children’s/young adult literature by Massachusetts authors. The award is open to authors who are current residents of Massachusetts or have strong ties to the state. Books must have been published in the previous calendar year.
208. Mastera Literary Award:
The Mastera Literary Award is an annual award presented by the Association for Women in Slavic Studies to honor outstanding scholarship in the field of Slavic/East European/Eurasian women’s and gender studies. The award is open to scholars who have published significant works of scholarship in the field of Slavic/East European/Eurasian women’s and gender studies.
209. Merle Curti Award:
The Merle Curti Award is presented annually by the Organization of American Historians (OAH) for the best book in American social, cultural, and/or intellectual history. The award is open to authors who have published outstanding works of scholarship in American social, cultural, and intellectual history.
210. Michael Braude Award for Light Verse:
The Michael Braude Award for Light Verse is presented annually by the American Academy of Arts and Letters for the best light verse written in English by a living American poet. The award is open to American poets who have published light-verse poetry, characterized by wit, humor, and clever wordplay.
211. Michael L. Printz Award:
The Michael L. Printz Award is an annual award administered by the American Library Association (ALA) that recognizes excellence in young adult literature. The award is named after a Topeka, Kansas school librarian who was a long-time active Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) member. The award is open to authors of young adult novels or books written for readers aged 12 to 18. The works should exhibit literary excellence, significant emotional impact, and relevance to young adult readers.
212. Michael Shaara Award for Excellence in Civil War Fiction:
The Michael Shaara Award for Excellence in Civil War Fiction is presented annually by the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College to honor outstanding fiction works that explore the American Civil War and its impact. The award is open to authors who have written novels or short stories that focus on the American Civil War era and demonstrate exceptional storytelling and historical accuracy.
213. Michener-Copernicus Fellowship:
The Michener-Copernicus Fellowship is awarded annually to support emerging writers in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The fellowship is administered by the University of Texas at Austin’s Michener Center for Writers. The fellowship is open to writers who have not yet published a book and who demonstrate exceptional talent and promise in their chosen genre.

215. Micro Award winners:
The Micro Award is presented annually for outstanding flash fiction, including stories that are 1,000 words or fewer. The award recognizes excellence in very short fiction writing. The award is open to authors of flash fiction stories published in literary magazines, anthologies, or online publications during the award period.
216. Mildred L. Batchelder Award:
The Mildred L. Batchelder Award is presented annually by the American Library Association (ALA) to honor the publisher of the most outstanding children’s book originally published in a foreign language and subsequently translated into English for publication in the United States. Eligible works include children’s books across various genres, including fiction, nonfiction, and picture books, that offer exceptional storytelling and cultural insights.
217. Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship:
The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship is awarded annually to support emerging African writers in completing a novel or nonfiction book. The scholarship is open to writers who are African citizens and who are working on a novel or nonfiction book. Applicants must demonstrate both literary talent and financial need.
218. Million Writers Award:
The Million Writers Award is an annual award presented by the online magazine “StorySouth” for the best online short story of the year. The award celebrates the best in online fiction and aims to promote online literary magazines and journals. Eligible works include short stories of any genre that have been published online and demonstrate exceptional writing, storytelling, and originality.
219. Minnesota Book Award:
The Minnesota Book Awards are presented annually by the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library to honor outstanding books created by writers, illustrators, and book artists who are residents of Minnesota. The awards are open to authors, illustrators, and book artists who are current residents of Minnesota or have strong ties to the state. Books must have been published in the previous calendar year.
220. Montreal International Poetry Prize:
The Montreal International Poetry Prize is an annual international poetry competition organized by the Montreal Poetry Prize Foundation. The prize aims to promote poetry and provide recognition and support to poets worldwide. The competition is open to poets from around the world, writing in English. Poets must submit unpublished poems of up to 40 lines.
221. Mythopoeic Awards:
