Personal Biography

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa but have lived in many different countries. I am the author of the self-help book Fear, Phobias and Frozen Feet as well as the novel Stop the world, I need to pee! a fictional account of the life and crimes of Fenella Fisher. In January 2010 I published The Case of Billy B which is a story about a father and son who face some immense challenges in life, including a psychopathic stalker. Not Telling is a story about two sisters and their relationship over the years; and the next in my Fenella Series, called CU@8. Other more recent novels of mine are Defective and Hush Baby.

In the past few years I've also written several children's picture books, a travel diary - The Great Mountain to Mountain Safari, an adult picture book The Colorful Art of Pain about coping with chronic pain, and a self-help for people coming out of a broken relationship, Survival Tips for the Suddenly Single. My latest book has just been released and is my first YA novel, The Freedom Club. It's a fictional account of bullying in a high school and how it affects different people involved.

In June 2009 I left China for good and moved on to Tanzania, where I stayed at the foot of Kilimanjaro. I have very eclectic tastes in most things - art, literature, cooking, writing, history, interesting discussions, making sausages and traveling. I think I have a good sense of humour but I can write about serious topics as well as completely offbeat off the wall stuff. Hopefully, I can cater to everybody's tastes. After Tanzania I moved to Kyiv, Ukraine then Cape Town, South Africa. Currently I live in Gjovik, Norway.

It is so nice to read about older people finding love, redefining themselves, and interacting with their children. This story had all these elements and it was entertaining. The story had much more promise, and I would have liked for the story to have a good strong edit. It seemed to drag in some places, and jump around in others. Overall, a good story that could have been much more with the right editor.

I just finished reading the book. I could not put it aside until I unfolded all adventures of two special women, friends forever from ever. I also have a friend like Suki, whose imagination and adventurousness got two of us into lots of funny and not so funny troubles when we were young. I suppose, this is what I value the most in this book- it took me back to my youth and proved that youth is never over if your crazy friend is around. After all, this is what keeps us alive and sound.
The plot of the story is super modern (probably a couple of decades later the book will need asterisks explanations at the bottom of pages- "Skype", "Facebook"- a phenomenon that made a world be really small. Or, "CU@8"- Abbrevish, the world's most compact language). Two middle age women (Fenella and Suki) both with their own life luggage start a virtual (but a very real indeed) hunt for an ideal man for Fenella's older daughter.
Once you start reading you will not stop smiling, laughing, wondering. It is a very entertaining and easy read, however, when the book is finished your thoughts come back to it again and again.

Two 50 year old single mothers ... two adult problematic children with too much drama and issues in their adult lives ... two worrisome moms who come to the rescue ...

Fenella Fisher and Suki Rabonowitz have been lifelong BFFs since the age of two. When their two eldest children find their adult lives are in a mess, the worried moms hatch a plan to sort out their children's lives.

Suki's son Josh has been known to be a liar, owes money to several people, is a cocaine addict and possibly had an affair with a woman in Cornwall, UK which resulted in a pregnancy.

Fenella's twenty-eight year old daughter Kirsty is an artist who has a needy streak that requires asking her mother "the relationship guru" for advice about her relationships. Her latest on again / off again boyfriend Grant has dumped Kirsty and left her in a tizzy.

Suki and Fenella hatch a crazy plan to find Kirsty a man on an internet dating site that leads the two ladies on an adventure filled with crazy antics. They also try to solve Josh's problem with the possible birth of his child in the UK.

Can the worried moms fix their wayward kids' lives?

C U @ 8 is an entertaining story about two worried moms whose eldest adult children can't seem to get their lives together. Written in the third person narrative, the reader follows along with the quirky fifty year old single moms Fenella and Suki as they try to fix their kids' lives through some really funny antics. There is a lot of humorous and quirky sides to these two ladies, in a time in their lives when they should be enjoying themselves, their needy adult children fill their days with worry and they feel the need to step in and help them out.

There are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments in this entertaining story with these two characters that will keep you in stitches as you read about their adventures and crazy antics. Fenella is the more serious type of woman, who just wants to get rid of her frequent migraines, travel to exotic spots and live a peaceful life. Suki on the other hand is redefining her life after the death of her ultra conservative orthodox Jewish husband's death. Put these two lifelong BFFs together and you have a duo that are determined to help their kids, and while they're at it they get themselves into some pretty funny situations!

C U @ 8 is a lighthearted entertaining story about the special bond that is a mother's love for their child. If you want a fast paced fun read full of quirky humor and crazy antics, then this is the book for you!

Not horrible not great. Really needed a good editor. Just when I thought it was going to pick up the story would start to drag again. I think the concept of older characters is great (I am older and many tell me I am a character) but the story still needs to move at a fair pace to keep the readers interest.

C U @ 8 is the twin stories of Fenella Fisher and Suki Rabinowitz, friends since childhood: Fenella, 50, divorced and sensible; Suki, widowed, also 50, and in her second childhood. Both women are dedicated mothers, their children playing big parts in their lives; thus, the action in the stories originates in the trials, dramas and shenanigans of the daughters and sons, events that Fenella and Suki must participate in, not merely give advice (the stories' title refers to the dates Suki and Finella set up to interview perspective boyfriends for Fenella's daughter, Kristy). What sets C U @ 8 apart is the verisimilitude of the situations, and the author's dry humor. Cindy Vine definitely has her thumb on the pulse of modern society and its technological toys. We in the USA can get a nifty view of life half way around the globe.

Just because your kids have moved at doesn't mean you stop being a mom. I'm sure I will be the same with my kids. I come by it naturally since my mom is still this way. Now mind you, I've been married for over 20 years, have two children of my own, and my mother still worries about me, lectures me on not going out by myself at night, how I'm eating, and other motherisms.

In this book, Fenella is the mom... only her kids justify the continued mothering. One, Kirsty, is involved with a creep who ended up dumping her after years together. Suki son is a drug addict with issues of his own. Together they resolve to find a new, better man for Kirsty and join a dating site to find men. Only some people think Fenella is a cougar since she meets a new boy toy every night. Read the book to find out the hilarious consequences.

I give this book 4 out of 5 clouds.

Perfectly written.
At the end of the story there are some interesting philosophical theories, but the main content is not so intriguing or engrossing.
Recommended for readers who like chick lit and modern day relationships.

A highly enjoyable read with a hint of mystery, romance and humour and if I remember correctly very few typos (my pet hate) if any.
