A man in search of a courtesan, and a woman in search of a ship – will they find what they are looking for?

Lord George Northmere is tired of his lonely existence, and makes the radical decision to go against the ton and society's rules, and seek out comfort in the arms of a courtesan.

But in all his thirty years, he has never met anyone quite like the fiery Italian Miss Florence Capria.

After travelling to England to seek her fortune leaving behind the shame of her family, she has found nothing but boredom and servanthood. Resigned to return to Italy empty handed, Florence seeks out a ship to take her home.

She is no courtesan, but she inflames Lord George’s curiosity – and his spirits – nonetheless.

After a riot forces them to take shelter in an intimate room, can Lord George ignore the growing passion Miss Capria ignites in his once cold heart? Will Florence find there is something – someone – worth staying in England for? Can a servant and a Lord find passion, even love together?

Will being lost with a lord change Florence's destiny forever?

This is the first in a series of eight Ravishing Regencies.

Lord George Northmere is tired of his lonely existence, so when his older brother suggests he goes & meet a special courtesan Teresa to get some temporary comfort & lose his virginity. Lord George decides to go to the docks to meet this special courtesan. However, instead he runs into a riot & bumps into a Lady who is heading for a ship bound for Italy. Unfortunately the two get tangled into the riot & each other.
The fiery Italian Miss Florence Capria is attempting to board a ship to Italy, but while she is attempting to find her ship she gets herself entangled into the doc riots. Until she bumps into a gentleman also trying to get away from this protest. The English gentlemen takes her by the hand & they run into a tiny shelter for safety. While they are locked up in this small room on the docs. The two strangers seem to open up more than they ever could with family. Each telling their darkest, more vulnerable emotions.
Two strangers, become one & first when it cones to the intimacy. While Lady Florence seems to think she is falling for her kind, gentle Lord. She thinks he will ask her to marry. That would be the honorable thing to do. Instead he offers to pay for her her safe passage.
Lord George cannot imagine after being with Flo to every meet another woman. However, He cannot tell her that he is in love with her. He has never been with a woman. Let alone she has plans, she doesn't want to stay in England & become a member of the ton. Or does she? He doesn't have a chance since she is left England headed for Italy.

A very sweet and touching romance between Miss Florence Capria and Lord George Northmere. I loved the fact that even though they were ensconced in a dank room for shelter, running from a mob that was fighting on the docks, they managed to reach out to each other and bared their souls. It was touching how they confided in each other their honest feeling and their pasts. It was easy to identify with the characters as everyone I know has felt lost or lonely at least one time in their lives. A wonderful romance and I recommend it.

This was neither as awful as the one star reviews made it out to be nor as amazing as the 5 star reviews raved. There are errors, but it’s short enough that there aren’t that many (although a couple were jarring—is it the Thames or the ocean they are near? And the Parthenon is the Greek one—in Italy you want the Pantheon). Both characters are roaming the docks after dark—George was in search of a courtesan his brother sent him looking for so he could relieve himself of his virginity, and Florence was looking a for a boat to take her home to Italy. The reviews complaining that this ramble on the docks came without penalty were wrong—George is attacked, and he and Florence flee, finding shelter in someone’s small room nearby. Strange that the room “probably belonged to a sailor” yet had no personal belongings and George and Florence entered through an open door into a room with lit candles, but nobody ever returned wondering why their place had been taken over by two random strangers...

At any rate, George and Florence hide from a violent mob, spend the evening sharing confidences, and end up losing their respective virginities to one another. Insta love indeed. The sex is described, but not very steamy somehow. The next morning, Florence finds a ship to Italy and George fails to speak up forcefully enough to convince her not to leave. Because it hasn’t even been 24 hours!

Needless to say, they get their HEA in spite of this. The story, as bare as it was in places, also included details that weren’t filled out, like the story with George’s brothers. This probably should have been longer and more developed, but as a one hour or so read, it’s entertaining enough.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a romantic novella about two lonely people who discover love at first sight in the most peculiar of places. Lord George is a lost, lonely soul. Florence is far from everything she knows. Their encounter is electric. George’s sadness and loneliness is so heartfelt. The feeling of being utterly alone is horrible, and it is depicted vividly. Florence is feisty and has a short temper!

This is a very well told novella. The plot was intricate and fast paced. It had romance and passion. It was focused on the two main characters the whole time and the development of that relationship was spot on.

I am really enjoying this novella series, if you want a quick, fun, romantic read this book is for you!

I started this book exited for an 8 book series. I love details and storylines and series usually can keep me engaged throughout. But this was awkward at best - and so short without detail that I kept checking where I was percentage wise in the book and couldn’t believe I was almost done. I won’t be reading past book one.

I like the writing style of this author. The scenes are well-laid out and the descriptions put you in a particular place.
If you don't like love at first sight, you won't like this book. That being said, the amount of character development put into a short space is impressive.
Do we have any idea if these characters can act together in society? No. Do we have any notice of their future prospects? They might be homeless in a month or servants for another family for all we know.
But if you're looking for whirlwind lust-filled evening, this is a Regency one-night stand with a happily ever after, and sometimes that's a perfect read.

I read this quickly and normally do not mind short stories but this had no real substance or something. Not quite sure what was lacking but I usually enjoy her sto more. Too much sex too early in the relationship. That does not define life vex to me. Di

5.0 out of 5 stars A regency love story with a difference

Another great short read from Emily. I loved that George although a Duke's son had to make his own way due to a family fall out, met and fell in love with Florence while looking for some female company. A different take on a regency romance that did not fail to please.

A pleasant enough story with a happy ending, but I could only give it 4 stars as I felt the characters lacked depth. The story was quite short, a little hurried and not altogether believable. Not author Emily Murdocks best book.
