About this ebook

When her ex goes missing, Zoe is swept into an international mystery that takes her from glitzy Las Vegas to the old-world charm of Italy.

Zoe Hunter loves living on the edge. Free-spirited and spontaneous, she’s built a life stringing together various freelance gigs that keep her bank account barely in the black. But when her ex, Jack, goes missing along with several million dollars from his business and the FBI zeros in on her as a person of interest, Zoe’s life goes from delightfully unpredictable to downright frightening.

Plunged into a world of fake identities, deception, and murder, she’s afraid to trust anyone. Zoe impulsively skips town in a search for answers that takes her from Las Vegas to Italy, but instead of tracking down answers, she only uncovers more questions.

Who was Jack? Is he dead or did he fake his disappearance? And, what was he mixed up in—art theft, the mafia, espionage, or all three?

Not a hit for me. Horrible, actually. A complete dud. After reading Death in the English Countryside, which I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend, this character, Zoe, is witless and fatuous, unlike Kate, who was quick-witted, observant, and quite the sleuth... super clever. It's like the author decided to dumb down her amateur detective. I couldn't read it after a few chapters... it was not enjoyable, engaging, or realistic. A silly chick asking silly questions as she dodges bullets while, supposedly, running for her life. The dialogue, in several instances, was just plain foolish. Looking at the list of this author's books, it appears that she seems to be more focused on hastily churning out a plethora of mediocre books than continuing to take time to write well-thought-out and skillfully crafted novels for serious readers. I was deeply disappointed.

The plot was incredibly intricate but not necessarily in a good way. All of the tiny details that took up PAGES before you could get back to the story were frustrating to me. A decent story that could have been told much more succinctly and I would have given 4 stars for that .

5 stars for a fast moving read with lots of twists and turns. I'll give you a hundred Stars if I could just because it was a good clean read. I didn't have to worry about profanity and explicit sex that are so prevalent in books today was able to totally enjoy it
