I give this book 8/10. I love how the 'Belle' here was portrayed as a strong, independent woman who won't easily fall in love for a man he barely knew. I also love how the 'Beast' here is really respectful, yet so charming and irresistable. The storyline is quite simple, but that's what make it more to my liking to be honest. The storyline is very familiar, to most of us, I believe. Yet the author still managed to make the story interesting & unique. However, it may be ‘too light’ for some people. As for me, I always prefer something light like this rather than a story with too much conflict. So if you like something warm, sweet & light to read, this book is the best for you.

I enjoyed how powerful Zulieka was, compared to most damsels in distress, and how despite the things that had happened to her, she continued to be a strong advocate for good. However, the one point of criticism I had is that I would have liked to see her and Vardan confront Thorn at the end, instead of just a sex scene. It seemed unfinished to me. Otherwise, I enjoyed this retelling, and I liked the characters very much!

Its a very different twist to Beauty and the Beast, which is one of my favorite tales. I like the thought processes behond this book, but i feel like the ending was missing something. Also, Zuleika/Belle was kinda a mary sue. She was too perfect, and her flaws were almost non existent.
