About this ebook

Alexa has a very big problem. She’s dead.

Worse, instead of meeting her maker, she’s pulled into the world of the Guardian Angel Legion: a secret band of angels dedicated to protect mortal souls from demons.

But Alexa’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she’s sent back to the mortal world to investigate a series of murders and missing souls when she’s attacked by a demon. But are demons responsible for the killings? Or is it something else?

To make matters even worse, an ancient, evil shadow grows over the world, and with it a force more terrible and destructive than the world has ever seen. Can Alexa find a way to stop it or doom the mortal world forever?

A fiercely entertaining fantasy filled with adventure, intrigue, and romance, the rich world of The Soul Thief is perfect for fans of The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices.

I really enjoyed this story. I do want to continue onto the next books in the series to continue the journey because it has been entertaining (I finished it in less than a week), however I could not justify giving it more than 3 stars. My biggest concerns were (1) the romance seemed lazily thrown in there with very little build up and it just seemed forced, not very natural (2) the reference to pagan gods in the end just seemed based highly on Christian rhetoric and stereotypes rather than the actual culture surrounding paganism, and the reference of the chief, i.e. "the god" was very much centered on the abrahamic God, which is whatever but seemed to take away from the entertainment value of the story as it pushed that very obviously over anything else, and (3) it seemed to end at a very awkward spot with not much of a wrap up. Although I know it is only the first in the series, it didn't seem well thought out as an ending, it just seemed like an ending to another chapter.

Only the second book I have choose in this way to be reading. Tired eyes looking into the screen would be a lot to do with my star choice.

"Full of adventure! Same universe as in the Soul Guardian series" - This book is full of adventure! The soul splitting element of this book is also very intriguing. It's set in the same universe created in the Soul Guardians series. Not sure if this acts as a sequel, parallel story or branches stories (either this or that). But if you've already read those, then you'll find lots of familiar elements in this book. I started the first book (Marked) of that series few years back, but paused it (still have to finish it). For now, I picked up this series to complete first instead, so this is the one building the world for me.
