Espionage, intrigue . . . murder . . . It's 1924, and war-widow fashionista Ginger Gold s new Regent Street dress shop, Feathers & Flair, is the talk of the London fashion district, attracting aristocrats from Paris to Berlin to Moscow. Ginger is offered her first job as a private detective when her sister-in-law's stage-actor friend goes missing, and though the dress shop takes most of her time, Ginger takes the case. But when a Russian grand duchess dies at the shop's official grand-opening event, Ginger ignores the missing person to chase a killer. It's a decision she will live to regret.

"Murder on the S. S. Rosa by Lee Strauss is a short prequel to the Ginger Gold cozy mystery series that

"Absolutely fabulous! I really could not enjoy a series any more than this one." Terri Donaldson - Amazon reviewer

"Oh, Gosh!
I didn't plan on getting hooked on yet another series, but I can't help it! I really, really like Ginger Gold! She is sharp as a tack, has guts, and knows what she wants and how to get it! Each one of these stories was practically un-put-downable. Plots are very intriguing, characters very well developed, and extremely well written. If you're a fan of the Australian series 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries', you'll love Ginger Gold!" JAM - Amazon reviewer

"This was an incredible read. The characters were full of life, and very likeable. The plot was engaging, and
kept me guessing until the end. I read this straight through, only stopping when life made me. Highly recommended!" Mary Moon - Amazon reviewer

"I love the Ginger Gold mysteries! Strauss makes the 20's come alive with her costumes and society happenings. These are a fun read and good mysteries as well. The attention to little details makes the books even better. You feel you are there. Strauss keeps the suspense and twists coming fast." - Jan, Amazon reviewer

"Lady Gold is Solid Gold! Ginger Gold is a true lady, in both manners and title. She owns her own boutique, and manages to find time to solve mysteries. She can always count on her best friend, Haley, who is a medical student who assists the coroner. The cast of characters is rich and each is different in the most fantastic way." Katie Thompson - Amazon reviewer

From the Author

When I was searching for my next series idea I decided to combine my two loves: mystery and history. I have a particular interest in the war years and a curiosity that has turned into an obsession with the between war years - The Roaring Twenties!
Researching for the Ginger Gold Mysteries has been so much fun. I hope you sense that as you read. The fashions, the dances, the
CRIME. I admit to being heavily influenced by the Miss Fisher Mysteries TV series, and you might find some similarities between Ginger Gold and Phryne Fisher, but I assure you, they are two very different characters when you dig deep. The character of Haley Higgins, a medical student at the London Medical School for Women allows me to further delve into another keen interest of mine: forensics. Never fear, the Ginger Gold Mysteries are COZY, so no scary, graphic on-stage violence. You'll find these books to be clean reads, with no swearing or sex. I hope you enjoy the Ginger Gold Mystery series!

This is the 4th of the Ginger Gold Mysteries that I have read, and I've enjoyed each one a little more. Unfortunately I read them out of sequence, so I recommend starting with the first if you can. So far each book has been complete, until this one. Most of the story is complete, but there is one mystery that holds over to the next book, which I already have. Overall, the story is a good one, and it moves along briskly. Ginger and her friend Haley are intelligent and competent women. Ginger's family can be amusing. There are a few typos in the book but not enough to distract. Ginger and her police friend Basil have a relationship that takes a turn in this episode. I like that the book is written in 3rd person but entirely from Ginger's point of view. The London setting and early 20th century time period make the book even better IMHO. This is a worthy addition to a good series.

I have recently become interested in the beginning of 20th century. I am from Ukraine, and for us, as for all Soviet Union members, those years were quite different from the rest of the world. It was really pleasing to read a bit of a tribute to our own history, though not exactly Ukraine an. As a whole, I like this writer and she does well with all the genres she writes in. The characters are likable, engaging and realistic and the writing solid. It is evident the writer really enjoys her own work.

I enjoy this series very much. They are well written. They have interesting characters and a good plot. I enjoy reading books that have no foul language and/or unnecessary sex scenes. These are just good stories and a very enjoyable read. I have read all the ones I have purchased, so now need to buy more to carry on with the series.

I enjoyed this story. There were many new things happening in the world. New inventions such as electricity, telephones and cars. Women owned their own shops. Ginger Gold had her own fashion shop and it was the talk of London. I liked the descriptions of the clothes. Ginger has skills learned during the war that help her in solving crimes. She has gotten her first job as a private detective but makes a mistake. What happened? Will this affect her future?
This story is well thought out and well written. There is mystery, suspense, twists and turns, and a little romance. This is a clean story that I can recommend.

Fashionista Ginger Gold's boutique Feathers & Flair is having a gala and everyone is there, including some royals from Germany, Russia and Romania, and designer Edward Molyneux, when her shop manager finds the Grand Duchess Olga Pavlovna Orlova of Russia dead in one of the changing areas!

Ginger's sister-in-law, Felicia, has caught the acting bug when one of her fellow actors, Angus Green, inexplicably goes missing. Ginger had just started trying to find out what happened to him when she puts it aside to work with Chief Inspector Basil Reed to find out who wanted the Grand Duchess dead and what happened to the Blue Desire necklace she had been wearing.

There are a lot of new characters in this story and I had a hard time remembering which royal person was from which country. The route to solving the murder included quite a few twists, including another murder, a missing gemstone necklace, and a coded message. Just when I thought they'd found the guilty party something new would happen. I really was more interested in Ginger and Basil's relationship, as things weren't going smoothly at the end of the last book, Murder at Bray Manor. Seems Basil's wife is back and it's making Ginger and Basil's working relationship a bit strained. Ginger belongs with Basil Reed and not Reverend Hill.

Ginger's best friend, Haley, has a new pathologist to work with. A Dr. Manu Gupta, who's sounds incredibly handsome. Could Haley have a love interest in future books? The unpleasant Captain Smithwick makes another appearance, so hopefully the future books will give us more information on what Ginger did during the war.

This isn't my favorite Ginger Gold Mystery but I liked it and can't wait to read the next one Murder at the Mortuary.

I’m not a big fan of cozy mysteries, but this one turned out to be good. The characters were interesting and the story was good. The one thing I didn’t care for was to much description of what everyone was wearing. It made those parts of the story drag.

This series gets better each time and I really like the way the relationships between the various people are evolving. The mysteries tie into the historical facts nicely and efforts of Lady Gold to help the street children is a wonderful example of how people have made amazing changes to the plight of the helpless but it is an ongoing process. I have to mention the fashions again just because I love the descriptions and wish the book were illustrated.Without spoiling anything, I really have to say that I like how much Lady Gold is ready to break the mold of a typical upper class and she is not afraid to get her hands dirty so to speak. Her past sets her up to be uniquely capable of handling the investigations and finding the murderers.

Ms. Strauss wrote a fast paced mystery full of unexpected twists! I truly enjoyed reading this mystery. Usually I am able to solve the mystery by the middle of the story. I couldn't discern the killer in this story until the very end of the story when Ms. Strauss revealed the killer. Amazing quality writing. Had to keep many characters in my mind as I juggled the "who did it" part of this story. A great read. I highly recommend that you read this story.

The world of international spies is a murky one. Ginger becomes involved via her shop when at an event someone dies. This was only the beginning of a murderous plot.

As with every Lee Strauss Book I have read, this one is interesting, entertaining and intriguing! I became a fan with the first book of hers I read and have been following this series since book one. I find myself pulled into the plot and trying to solve the murder with Ginger and Basil. Ginger’s family always create some interesting twists along the way and Hailey is her mainstay! I will continue to be a fan of the series and would recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of mystery. Also I appreciate that these books are appropriate for anyone to read as there is no bad language or sex scenes included!
I appreciate the accurate look back into time with the fashions and trends in British society.

I only just discovered this author and bought all the existing books from the series right away after reading the first book. As a book worm, I feel terribly grateful to the likes of Mrs Strauss who have the ability to provide us with hours of highly enjoyable reading. If, like me ,you need something to read while waiting for her next book to come out, you might want to check out other authors like L.B. Hathaway and her Posie Parker mysteries or Emma Jameson and her series staring Doctor Bones as well as Margaret Addison and her Rose Simpson mysteries. Hope you enjoy them all as much as I did.
