About this ebook

Outreach Magazine Resource of the Year

Everybody loves a good story.

In an age when prepackaged gospel formulations leave people cold, well-told Bible stories can be used powerfully by God to touch people's hearts and draw them to himself.

After ministry in both Western and non-Western contexts, church planter Christine Dillon has discovered that Bible storying is far more effective than most other forms of apologetics or evangelistic presentations. In fact, non-Christians actually enjoyed storying and kept coming back for more. Storying provides solid biblical foundations so listeners can understand, apply and respond to the gospel, and then go on to fruitful maturity in God's service.

This book includes practical guidance on how to shape a good story, how to do evangelism through storying and how to lead Bible discussions. With particular insights for trainers and those working in crosscultural contexts, this guide provides you with concrete steps for sharing the Story that everyone needs to hear.

If you've read Christine's Grace Series (or if you haven't) and you are interested in learning to tell Bible stories as a way of evangelism or discipleship, than you will find this book very helpful in that journey. Read it cover-to-cover, or use it as a reference to help encourage you and answer questions you encounter as you prepare stories of your own to share with people in your life.

I've not yet read Dillon's book except for the sample pages in the publisher's website and several articles and reviews. I like what I am reading. Apparently she has done an excellent work of presenting the basic methodology in a very relational manner--not just a method, but a divinely empowered personal relationship for communicating God's message of salvation. As one of the pioneers in the development of Bible Storying I am greatly encouraged to read and hear this kind of writing. I will definitely add Dillon's book to the suggested list of reading for those desiring to use Bible Storying in their own ministry. There are a growing number of methodology publications but this book is a good relational book that is very personal and well illustrated. Surely everyone reading the book will desire to get in on the action of learning the key Bible stories and enjoying the fellowship of storytelling the Greatest Story. Well done!

This book was probably one of the most practical books I've ever read. It made me want to go out and evangelise, but also left me feeling equipped that I could actually do it.
