About this ebook

How much will she sacrifice for love?

Neith has never questioned her duty to marry according to status and wealth—until she falls in love, and the world turns on its head. Invier, lowborn but romantic, is willing to defy societal pressures and demand Neith’s hand in marriage.

However, in a world where status is key, such a marital alliance would invite rival families to crush Neith’s family, leaving Neith desperately struggling to find a solution that doesn’t involve choosing between love and family.

The Proem is a prequel short story to The Pursual, Book 1 of The Nome Chronicles series. It weaves compelling characters, political intrigue and first love into a fast-paced tale.

About the author

As a child, F. F. John was an incredibly inquisitive and she was encouraged to find answers in books. When she’d read everything her home had to offer and there was no more space in the house to accommodate additional books, her mother told her to write her own stories. So, she did. Today, she continues to create worlds of characters that have a lot to say about everything. And she lets them do just that. They tend to give answers to the riddles she’s yet to solve. F. F. John’s first series The Nome Chronicles is a young adult dystopian collection of four books. It includes The Proem (a prequel novella), The Pursual, The Paladin and The Paragon (coming January 2018). Also upcoming is her urban fantasy series, the LegionBorn Trilogy and a young adult space opera series called the Excelsia series.
