*This review is a part of a paid sponsorship. All thoughts and opinions in this review are honest and my own.* It has been a little while since I read the first book but I really enjoyed that one (four stars). I specifically wanted to wait and read this book around Halloween time, which I did. I knew it was a sequel but would follow two new characters so I wasn’t sure how we would see the characters from the first book. I ended up giving this book three stars because it was just an okay read for me. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. If I had re-read the first book and then immediately read this, I could possibly have a different opinion. The beginning of this book went very quickly. We had the prologue and then we are immediately introduced to one of the main points of the book in the first chapter. This is not necessarily a bad thing but I did find it going really quickly. Towards the middle/end of the books I was confused on the sister part of the plot. Part of that is on me because I forgot about Veronica from the first book. The ending was also a little confusing, again because of the sister plot. I’m still not sure if there are two or three sisters. I will have to go back and read the last chapter or so. I also wish that the chapters were labeled with which character we were following. I thought I was reading about Mandy but it was Alison at some points. That’s just a personal preference for me. Again, overall just an okay read for me. I in no way discourage anyone from not trying the first book because I really enjoyed that one. If you are into supernatural type reads then definitely try and pick this series up. You may just find that you love it.
