Before I wrote, I read. Voraciously. When I wasn’t able to read, I listened to audio books on tape or CD. Still do.

Hi. My name is Robynn E Sheahan and I live and write from the Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

I started to dabble in writing while working as a Paramedic/Firefighter in Northern California. Trust me, it’s not like it appears on TV. There was plenty of time for books.

Ideas from dreams follow me into warm sunny days or the quiet of falling snow. What ifs feed a vivid imagination. Even miss-typed phrases may lead to an aha moment. Brain storming sessions standing in windy, dark parking lots with fellow writers release thoughts that pry at the corners of my mind, grasping for purchase. Sometimes the ideas pursue me, with persistence.

About three years ago the dabbling became serious when worlds and characters screamed for, no, demanded attention. So I wrote my first manuscript. Critiques and rewrites filled the next two years.

I now had STORM OF ARRANON, the first book in the series.

Storm of Arranon
Well written, quick moving, and exciting- a glimpse into the future. Young and insecure, Erin is a powerhouse in a tiny body and she doesn't know it. She's taken by warring alien entities and the lid flies off the amazing things locked up inside her. We watch her grow into a woman of character and appeal. Special powers, two civilizations doomed, a melding of minds, and an unexpected romance. So enjoyable to read a book that captivates and entertains without foul language. One I would recommend to young adults as well as us of an older generation. A great read and a wonderful first for R E Sheahan. Waiting for sequels.

For those who don't like to read long reviews, I can sum this up by saying Storm of Arranon is an incredible read, well worth your time.

That said, Storm of Arranon follows Erynn, a military student on the planet of Korin and the daughter of one of Korin's most famous generals. Her entire life, she has been forced to hide a major secret about her past as well as her mysterious powers that she herself does not even understand. When treachery rears its head in the political powers on Korin, she suddenly finds herself swept into a war in which Korin, and its sister planet of Arranon, are threatened by annihilation. Revelations about Erynn's life comes to light and she soon learns that she has a mysterious connection to Arranon. She finds she may be the key to saving both planets, finding love along the way.

When reading this, I found it hard to believe that it was R.E. Sheahan's debut novel in that her writing style screams of seasoned pro. The balance between detail, story, and characterization is impeccably executed. Nearly all of the characters are deep and complex and grow throughout the story. Though the main villain in the novel does not really share the same level of characterization as the other key players(I'm leaving out the name in case of spoilers), you gain an understanding of him based on the overall story of his people.

When reading Storm of Arranon, the world was brought vividly to life in my mind by the author's wonderfully realized sense of the world(s) they have created. You can tell that an extreme amount of care went into developing Arranon and Korin, whether from the description of species native to the planets, the unique environments, or from the inhabited towns/cities. R.E.Sheahan has invested a level of world building that in no way feels forced or unnatural.

Storm of Arranon is a wonderful sci-fi adventure full of fun, action, and even a little romance. I could see this book making a wonderful movie! Though I hated to see the book end, I was happy to see it left open for further volumes in the series while still wrapping up in a satisfying way. I look forward to the continuation of Erynn's story.

Fantasy, Science fiction, adventure, romance, magic all are the elements of the story. The story is about a girl named Erynn who learned that she is a child of two planets Korin and Arranon and as a result she has abilities that is extraordinary. She has powers beyond imagination, and hence the brutal aliens invades Korin and wants to take Erynn with them to make use of her special powers. But, Erynn then like super hero is on her own mission to save her planets and its people.
So a classic fantasy built on the base on science and magic combined, results in the plot that is interesting. The characters are somewhat complex, but too many elements in one plot that at times does affect the pace of the story. The author’s creativity came out with varied, imaginative characters and various twists and events in the story. A good book to read!

Erynn is an intercept pilot. There are things she knows about her past that influences the future. Her father is from Arranon, and her mother is from Korin, enabling her to have powers from both sides within her. When Korin and Arranon are at war, she discovers exactly what these powers are and learns about a prophecy that is connected to the planets. She can save everyone only if she finds the way to unlock it.

Jaer, the handsome hero that assists Erynn in escaping, becomes her love interest however the story mostly focuses on Erynn. This heroine has the ability to connect to animals, and that was a sweet touch to the story. The book is packed with drama, and the author manages to create a beautiful fantasy world that one could vision in their mind as they read it. There is plenty of action, fighting, tension, and suspense.

This science fiction story has a fascinating plot and interesting character building. The ending is not like the normal kind you read and provides anticipation for wanting more, yet not displeased with the outcome.

There are many authors that tend to mix in various genres with their plots but are not that skillful in succeeding. They often confuse the reader or get them lost in their thoughts, however, Storm of Arranon is an exception. You sincerely feel the emotions, the turmoil and understand the story completely. The literary standard of this book was in such capacity, where you would feel and grow with the characters. This factor alone should earn and qualify the book to be four stars.

This book is suitable for young adults as well as anyone that likes to read on science fiction & fantasy.

The only thing I would change is the cover. It is absolutely hideous, and I am not sure why the author selected it unless she wanted to make the following point:

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting mixture of magic and science fiction

An interesting and entertaining book. It was very good at mixing magic, animal interaction and science fiction battles. An alien invasion and espionage leads to an understanding of power through a connection to magic! An interesting concept! The second book in the series will need to be different to capture the same interest.
