Vanguard: Before the Storm (The Sentinel Trilogy Book 4) Kindle Edition
The war is over, but the Revoth want their land back. Kidnapping, ransom, and slavery fund their terrorism, but bombing Jet’s hometown was the final straw.
Viper Unit is dispatched to take the Revoth down. But the special forces have no need for a mind-reading ‘fairy’—unless Jet can prove himself as a sniper.
Sorvashti’s clan demands she take one of the seven oaths, but her father’s political status has already chosen for her—and made her a prime target for ransom.
When Jet and Sorvashti meet behind enemy lines, revenge intertwines with survival… and a spark between them neither can ignore.

About the author
Award-winning sci/fi-fantasy author Jamie Foley loves strategy games, gardening, and making lembas bread. She's terrified of red wasps and uses them for lightsaber training. When she's not writing, she's working for Enclave Publishing or the Christian Writers Institute, typesetting, or drawing maps to Cair Paravel. Her husband is her manly astronaut preacher muse. They live between the Texas Hill Country and the family cattle ranch, where their hyperactive spawnling and wolfpack roam. http://www.jamiefoley.com

I had read the Sentinel Trilogy previously and enjoyed it very much. This book develops Jet's and Sorvashti's characters and fills in the relationship between them, giving greater understanding for the trilogy. It makes me want to reread the entire set, knowing I will have more understanding.
Nice book--clean of offensive language and situations. Well-edited and perfect cover!
I will be watching for Foley's new books.
I'd recommend this book, series actually to anyone who loved action, romance and a few very cool supernaturals.
Heard some good things about the rest of the series, so I was looking forward to checking out this prequel novella when I won it in a giveaway.
I don't know that I properly appreciated it without having met these characters in the series first? I don't know, I'm always a little weird about reading prequel/back stories before reading the main story. It's almost like cheating since I don't know the characters as "they are" yet. It's weird and probably just a me thing.
Anyway - the world was very interesting! I felt a little lost, but that was totally me since I didn't exactly read the info at the beginning that would have helped with some stuff. *cough* :) The "superpower" things are really cool! I liked all the characters and the military team even though we didn't get to spend too much time with them.
I'm definitely intrigued by the world Jamie Foley has built and I'm looking forward to seeing where Jet and Sorvashti end up. :)
The descriptive writing is clear, easy to follow, and does not bombard the reader with foul language and sex. It is well-edited, the characters are interesting, and the situations drew me in.
I recommend it to anyone over 12.
