Tricky has managed to escape the network but she needs to get to the palace in Chestwick before they catch her again. She has to play a recording to The Baron, Tumelo – one Lucien Dufray discovered on her obsidian. It had cost Lucien his life, and what it reveals might cost Tricky hers!

On her way, the trees show Tricky a greater risk in the bunkers, not just to her personally but to the entire landmass, making her quest to destroy the network even more imperative. Tricky decides the key is to get rid of Gandalf, aka Douglas Bottle, who thinks himself some kind of grand wizard. But Tricky’s no murderer (not an intentional one anyway), and so, with the unexpected help of The Rabble, she devises a plan to tangle him in time.

But before she can do that she has to meet with Tumelo and expose the true traitor in their midst, and face him too. Will Tumelo support Tricky or blame her? Will Tricky get a chance to trap Gandalf before the network catches her? And will she really consider settling down if she saves the landmass?

The only thing Tricky knows for sure is she faces another journey, one that will take her out of the landmass and out of time – but will she be able to return? In this final instalment of the Tricky’s Tales trilogy, Tricky finds out who her real friends are when things get tricky.
