Another great read. Always love this author’s characters. Very insightful. They all come to life, even the minor characters. And she does mermaids and underwater like no other. Love it. Read Aquamarine before this. Didn’t realize this was first. This just made me like Seth and Gina more. Now I guess I’m going to have to reread with this new info. Look forward to more books from this author. Thanks for the journey.

First off, I listened to the audiobook of this so I'm also reviewing the narration.

The book itself, I'd give a full 5 stars for. It was awesome! I loved every second of it.

The narration was divided. Marni Penning was amazing, as always. She always sucks me into a story so that I can't stop listening. The chapters for the male main character, however, were narrated by Ron Butler, who I found to be less enthralling. And by "less", I mean I almost turned the book off and didn't finish it. My ears and brain rebelled against his tone and style. But I stuck it out and eventually became used to his performance. I'm glad I did because I loved the story.

Whether or not I continue with the audiobooks, I'm not sure. I may switch to the ebooks after this. This series is definitely one I want to continue with.

The good news is this is a great read, and the bad news is that it is way to short. The action is all on board a modern sailing ship, The Cobalt with our two heroes, a fifteen year old boy. and a siren, meeting on the ship.

Things change drastically in a fog based accident that is ending the long history of the ship while lives are on the line.

The story is just a taste of what is coming in the series, "The Pretty Little Mermaids" and I am eagerly awaiting the first full book in the series that is expected at the end of November.

After reading a few books, recently, written by other authors and thinking, “maybe I’ve just lost interest in reading because none of these stories are gripping me”, then I read another book written by Knorr and remember my love for reading. I just can’t get enough. The most disappointing part of this book was the ending, realizing that I’ll have to wait for the next one in the series.

This story was about a mermaid in her land-cycle trying to decide whether to forgive her human fiancé for a transgression.

Extremely well written, the characters, even the minor ones, are well developed with an attention-grabbing storyline in just 87 pages. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make the reader get invested into the characters and thereby the story. I’ll be reading more from this author and look forward to the release of Aquamarine (Pretty Little Mermaids Book 1) releasing at the end of this month! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I’ve been hooked on her works since Born of Water. She writes for the YA crowd but delivers stories that appeal to all ages. This novella introduces us to Gina, said mermaid, and Seth, a 15-year old high-schooler, on a short sea voyage. Seth is onboard to research his next school paper, Gina is running from a relationship that she’s not quite convinced she’s giving up on. It’s a quick read but I find all of the author’s work conveys the reader along effortlessly.

If you fall anywhere on the venn diagram of YA, romance, and mermaids, you’ll be advised to give this and at least some of her other works a try.
