A hands-on guide to a better life
I had the honor of reading The Advanced Review Copy a week ago, and it was the best read this year so far.Mr. Deutschendorf's book is a joy to read, packed with new information, and practical advise at the end of each chapter. It felt like reading 3 books in one, as each topic is backed up by 1) research, 2) real life stories are enhancing the ideas, and a 3) hands-on suggestion follows to be tried by the reader. I was especially in praise of the suggestions that the author provides in each chapter, because they allow the concepts of EI for a successful implementation into daily life, which makes the book a treasure for anyone waiting to enrich their personal and professional life with Emotional Intelligence. In an age, where interpersonal communication across the city and across the globe is at our fingertips, we must ensure that we become very effective using that skill, and this book will guide you step by step, until you reach the apex of success at connecting with people face-to-face or online.I highly recommend this book to every aspiring, and established leader!

Harvey Deutschendorf has created a masterpiece that is as engaging for experienced practitioners, like myself as an executive leadership coach, as it is for beginners enabling them to grasp and implement the concepts of EQ. The activities allow for measurable growth and impact. He shares his vast wealth of knowledge and personal and professional experiences in a brilliant and compelling book that will take its place among the celebrated EQ experts and masters.

Emotional intelligence is so important and so commonly overlooked in favor of intellectual intelligence. This book demonstrates the need for empathy in a variety of contexts and settings where conflict may arise, and offers tips and exercises to build your skill set in this area. It's not just teachers and therapists that need to be proficient with their emotional intelligence, it's everyone who comes into contact with other humans… So, everyone. Highly recommend this book as a resource. I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing a digital ARC. My honest review is my own opinion.

What a fantastic book! Life and work are sometimes tough to navigate. Harvey shares 101 practical ways to feel better and be better for those around you. It’s a quick read that can forever improve your life. Thank you, so much, Harvey Deutschendorf for being such an inspiration in the practical application of emotional intelligence.

Harvey Deutschendorf gives us an enormous buffet of valuable insights and information in bite-size pieces. The key to manifesting what we want in life is balance of thinking AND feeling - and so many have denied their feeling nature because it was marginalized when they were a child. Consequently, key to healing childhood trauma is getting back in touch with our feelings and what are body is telling us. As a parent coach, I deeply understand the importance of emotional intelligence for those seeking to transform their parenting approach and their lives. But I'm not an expert at emotional intelligence - so Harvey's book is my new go-to manual for supplementing my coaching programs. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeing personal transformation and also a greater understanding of others.

Harvey Deutschendorf has mastered the art of conveying emotional intelligence (EI) to others. EI provides a superb roadmap and framework for leaders to become more in tune with their relationships and how they connect with others. As a well-respected leader in the EI space, this book can be read with confidence that the tips presented are based on years of experience and research. Personally, I have recommended this book to a number of my colleagues who are new to the area of EI because of how well crafted the layout of the book is. While I think all 101 tips are certainly useful, I was drawn to a couple more than others. Tip #12 “Develop Future Leaders” beautifully nails the expectations of the current generation and how they don’t just want a paycheck, but rather they wish to contribute to a worthwhile goal. Tip #87 Become a Great Storyteller, I loved this one! We can all appreciate someone who can really nail a good story and how captivated we feel when listening. Overall, Harvey did a phenomenal job with this piece of art.

This book is a guide for how to survive, and thrive, in the workplace. It takes the common things we all struggle with - imposter syndrome, the "office jerk," work-life balance, to name a few - and offers hands-on, practical techniques to handle them effectively. Because emotional intelligence is a life thing, not a work thing, a lot of these skills translate to personal life as well. You can read it in one fell swoop, or have on hand as a reference when you're in a tricky situation or mood space. I love how in a minute or two I can gain a new perspective and ideas that actually work.
