Star Rider and the Golden Threads: A space Opera Adventure Kindle Edition
While Toemeka is living in a secret dome-city for refugees, an urgent message arrives for her husband, Michio. It’s a plea for help from Queen Koriann of Jaipar. Planetary-conqueror and sorcerer, Samrat Condor, is threatening to attack unless they surrender.
Michio has left the dome-city for specialized training to stop Condor’s spread of dark power, so Toemeka goes to Jaipar on planet Borko in his stead. There she is reunited with Agent Erling Fenian, her former Coalition partner.
Complications arise including old feelings between Erling and Queen Koriann, personal betrayal, dark sorcery, spiritual tests and hostile aliens.
Will they be able to save Jaipar?
Star Rider and the Golden Threads is the second book in the Star Rider series. Star Rider on the Razor’s Edge is the first book in the series. Each book in the series can stand alone.“The first book in a brand-new series, Star Rider is full of action, adventure, science fiction, and romance. The author introduces you to a fascinating new world. It is a fast-paced book. There is also a spiritual side to the book that surprised me. I will definitely be reading more of this series. It is a highly entertaining read.”
—Jen Sut
“Without a doubt, Star Rider on the Razor’s Edge by Heidi Skarie instills creative imagination. It takes you to realms where illusions of power for the enslavement of the many are soon uncovered. I felt noticeably transported, actively participating while holding a child’s Obi-wan-Kenobi lit sword in the Star Wars battle dramas, which ensued so the light of truth could emerge! It was exciting, spell-binding, artfully choreographed and provocative!”

I enjoyed Star Rider at the Razor's Edge - good plot, characters and world building.
I moved on to this expecting the same, but found myself pulled in far more - and completely. The suspense around characters' fates was well-crafted, and you really cared about the people involved. It is written in a simple manner, helping make it a page-turner.
Can't be more positive about this - and hope the 3rd catches me the same way.
The main conflict of this book seemed to be between family and… adventure. The main female character gets married and gets pregnant, and gets torn between her duty to her family and her desire to ‘be there’ with the other fighters. This conflict means, at least as far as I was concerned, that we never really got to know the main character. She seemed to be two characters spliced together, neither of whom I really either liked or got to care about.
The conflict between family and military service seems a well-timed issue to deal with, given the modern issues of women in the military and the overall destruction of families in our society at large. The character doesn’t seem to handle it well, however, as she keeps balancing weighty matters against trivial ones, and never really coming down on one side or the other.
Another main feature of the book was a bizarre religion, one that seemed to be missing both God and many of the important features of religion. Oh, and its concept of reincarnation mixed itself back into the overall tension… so the baby that she was carrying was actually someone else, if you see what I mean.
What this book wasn’t, at least in my view, was a space opera. But, then, that term isn’t really well defined.
Learning from lessons, different characters interact with one another in sort of a different fantasy world which is quite interesting.
Some of the beliefs in this book may not be for everyone, but if you're open to different ideas, and enjoy sci-fi stories, you'll love this one too.
I am a fan of everything sci-fi and therefore this book went down like a treat - definitely star wars/star trek vibes. Worth your time if you are a scifi or space novel type of a person!
There is plenty of action, political intrigue, and danger with a bit of romance included.
Toemeka Kimes and her new husband Michio are part of a team of fighters who all appear to have psychic abilities to one degree or another. They are all followers of a certain Master Bakka who appears to stand in a similar relation to them as Master Yoda did to the Jedi. They are able to travel in their light bodies outside of their physical bodies across space and in something called the inner worlds.
They are fighting a character called Samrat Condor, one of those types who want to take over the entire galaxy. He too appears to have psychic powers and represents the equivalent of the Dark Side. Samrat Condor is currently conquering planet Alandra, home of the Coalition of Free Nations. At the same time, he seems to have designs on planet Borko where Toemeka and her team had just finished freeing the country of Jaipar from one of his minions before she married Michio.
Queen Korriann van Marsindi of Jaipar requests help from the Coalition, and they send her Erling Fenian, Toemeka’s former teammate, probably not knowing that he and Koriann were romantically involved. Meanwhile, Koriann has become engaged to King Zanton of Haklute, another kingdom on Borko, for political reasons. But he’s not at all what she had hoped he would be.
