He’s a grumpy Navy Seal. She’s a loving single mom. Could these opposites be perfect for each other?
Ryker
I’m known for a lot of things, but I never imagined perpetually angry would be one of them. I thought I had everything I needed in life. I’d accomplished so much. I’d experienced more than most people ever would. But one thing I’ve never experienced is getting dumped by the only woman I’d ever loved, and that’s something I never want to experience again.
Gabby
I’ve always loved the Oregon Coast. It’s the one place that always made me feel safe. When my great-grandfather left me his home, not only was I honored, but I was excited to share the place that brought me so much happiness when I was young. Life was finally perfect, but when I lay eyes on the handsome but slightly grumpy next-door neighbor, I begin to think life would be a lot more perfect with him in it.

Susie McIver is a native Californian and lifelong lover of good books. Born into a family of ten children, there were plenty of stories to tell and share. It's only fitting she now writes books of her own these days.

When she's not writing or plotting her next book, she enjoys walking in nature, fishing in a lake near her home, reading, and spending as much time as she can with her wonderful children and five grandchildren, and her husband whom she proudly says is her best friend in the world.

This is a good story and the characters are realistic as well. The only thing is that there were too many crimes in the story.

Loved this book and can’t wait to read the next in the series. The story had a good pace to it and loved how the characters interact together.

Love the story concept and humor. One thing that throws me off some time is, when there is a conversation going and no mention of who is speaking at times or until the last part of the conversation and then the name of the two characters is mentioned. That really can throw a read off.

The author has promising ideas, but the writing seems hurried and abrupt. It doesn't flow although lots of practice will help. I liked some of the characters, but didn't get to know much about them. The story seemed to go off in too many directions and there was a lack of research leading to mistakes in the details. A good editor and proofreader are needed. Despite these issues, I will read the next in the series and hope to see smoother writing and more depth to the characters. I believe improvement will come with more reading and writing.

This story is about navy seals who are retired but own their own security company. They help others in need. This was a good book with a lot of twists. A good read.

I read a lot of military books and this one was just so different. I am definitely going to be reading the rest of the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars needs better editting

Story was ok. A bit rushed in places.
Author needs to pay more attention to the quotation marks - used when they shouldn't be, not used when they should be. Makes it a bit difficult to read as the quotation marks don't align with the conversation.
I'm not sure if I will read another book by this author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Story had promise, writing was terrible..
Reviewed in Canada on July 2, 2023
I really enjoyed the first third of the book, even though it was hard to follow as it was written in first person and it wasn't always clear which character was narrating. I had to stop around 60% of the way through as the author kept resolving things without warning and in a dismissive sentence. I heard myself saying "And yadda yadda yadda, she got caught and the trial is next month" Very disappointed as the story had great potential, just needs a good editor and more experience in writing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Potential but really badly written
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 12, 2023
This had the potential to be good, it had some good storylines but it was really badly written. The sentence structure was really short and jerky, like a kid’s essay “what I did on my vacation, Mary aged 8 and 3/4”

Also, there were loads of plot threads that just trailed off into nothing, characters where it was almost like they had a previous book although this was the first in a series, and every plot line the writer could come up with plus the kitchen sink thrown in there for good measure. Seals, rangers, cops, stolen babies, music stars, human trafficking, betrayed hero, single mother, corrupt cops, rape (character was supposed to be a rape victim but no sense of trauma just inconvenience).

Save your money just irritating.
