He wants information. Revenge. And worst of all, he wants Elise Bettencourt in his bed. Again and again and again.

There's no future between them.

A woman who's fought to build a new life for herself.

And the man who will bring it all down.

I was not ready for the suspense, angst, and spice in this book!
4 Stars
I was not ready for the suspense, angst, and spice in this book!
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐STEAM: 🔥🔥🔥.5Gabriel Hill has been planning all of his life to avenge his parents against the Consortium, and Elise Bettencourt is his way in. Elise knows this and should avoid him at all costs, but her interest in him cannot seem to make her run -- even walk -- away.Elise also has secrets of her own. That's why she has been keeping her family at arm's length. But when Gabriel makes a deal with her that she could not resist, she gets back into the Consortium's fold. Will she regret this move, or is this going to be the key to Gabriel's cold heart? This is definitely an Amelia Wilde read. It has angst, suspense, and mystery. Nothing gets me going than angry spice, and this read has it in spades filled with great tension in between.Gabriel is the quintessential alpha-hole; he is cold, cunning, overprotective, and angry. Elise seems to keep him in balance, letting her kindness and smarts match him well. This is the first of the series, so it does end in a wonderful cliffhanger that will have you pulling your hair out and hitting one-click for the next book at the same time. The series can be a standalone even though characters from Wilde's Wealth series make an appearance throughout the book.

This story reminded me of a story so much like one I read a couple of years ago, well anyways, I liked this story a lot! Gabriel lost his parents because of the rich business people who were suppose of been his parents friends. This parents were rich like the rest of them but , Mr. Buttercourt couldn't control Gabriel parent into burning down a building for insurance money, so he had Gabriel, Jameson, Mansion and Remy parents killed and the children were left to help themselves grow up by themselves. Gabriel wants revenge on The Consortium that did this to his family. Elise Butter court is the daughter of the evil devil that got the hit man to burn the building and Gabriel's parents. The old man was grooming Elise's to take over the family business and be part of The Consortium. She leaves the family business because of the fire, she turned her back on her evil father. She started a bakery, telling her family to go ft themselves. The only time she wanted to go home was to see her sisters. She met Gabriel wanted to use her to get involved with the business of The Consortium club, he wanted revenge so bad he uses Elise for his own cause. What will happen next? Elise falls for him, he gets in to The Consortium, but her father doesn't want her part of his company. What's going to happen when Gabriel uses his own company to destroy The Consortium? You'll just have to get the next book to find out! I really loved reading this authors stories. I can't wait to read more of her books. This book had it all, sex, drama, lies and mysterious things that were happening to the people who were in this story. Enjoy!!

This was a really good read. It had heat, a great storyline and memorable characters. I am giving it fourvstars because…. Its book 1 of I have nomidea how many.

I would NOT have read it if I had known there was a cliffhanger. I hate when authors aren't up front with you about this. I prefer to wait and read one than the next. By the time the second book comes out, I will have forgotten the first book. Especially as I am an avid reader and after awhile, some stories blend into others.

4.5 stars

This interconnected world of the Hill family is definitely one that has a lot of secrets and an unhealthy fixation on revenge. Granted, the desire to seek retribution is warranted. For some reason, I thought it would be Mason who would be the power player. I was wrong because I hadn't thought about Gabriel.

Gabriel is a pretty messed up guy. The things he had to do at 15 in order to help his family, mainly Mason, were heartbreaking. That's a lot of pressure on a young boy. I think that part of his life is why he disassociates while also managing to put up a facade in which he is charming. His actions aren't cruel like Mason's were. Instead, his mouth is. He uses words to get his point across, and everyone knows that words hurt more than physical altercations because bruises fade but words will eat at a person much longer.

E actually surprised me. She had a lot of guilt. I hated that for her. I also hated how alone she was. It didn't seem fair. The two of them together were hot. I was drawn to the fact that each of them felt guilt for either an action or encounter towards the other. It made this whole revenge thing more than just a surface revenge plot.

There is a lot more to come in this book. Still, so many questions that need to be answered. I'm not sure where this is going next, but it's liable to be good.

Off-topic, I really wanted to see Gabriel save Nate from a similar fate. I felt like he had no one and that Gabriel would be a good person to have in his life. I think Nate would also be good for the G man too because Gabriel needs to heal in his own way.

Seeing the fire, that killed the Hill parents, from Gabriel's perspective was nice too. It added a depth that I wasn't expecting.

Dang! I had a feeling Gabriel and Elise were going to take me on a ride, and they did and then some. Gabriel is focused on revenge and Elise is the way for him to get it. He has anger and a lot of it. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one sitting. I am completely hooked on Gabriel. He went through a lot when his parents died and you see just how much. Elise has so much guilt built up in her that she really doesn’t deserve to have. What she dealt with at the hands of her father was horrible. These two are broken in different ways and my heart just went out to them for what they endured. Gabriel and Elise are the same, yet different. They may seem like they don’t belong together, but that is what makes them perfect for each other. There is angst, revenge, some more angst, secrets, lies, revelations, hurt, pain, and shocks. The chemistry they have just jumps out at you. Amelia just ripped me apart and I could feel the hurt and pain that these two felt. The ending was OMG! I need to know what happens next

I love her books. I do not like when they do not tell you when there is a cliffhanger. Then find out the second book is a cliffhanger also.

I love this series I cant wait to see what happens I cant read them fast enough and i read pretty fast

The story took me a while to get into. It definitely picks up about halfway through. That being said, I would have never started it had I known it was a cliffhanger. I still contend that cliffhangers are a cheap way to make me buy the next book. However, the characters were complex and interesting. Gabriel's story was particularly poignant. Elise was not the power woman I thought she was building to be and I was disappointed. Her loyalty to her sisters was admirable, but she offered no solutions to helping them out and that was completely sad to me. I've pre-ordered the next book, but have marked this author not to try any other books. I don't like being tricked into buying the next installment. I gave this four stars primarily because of Gabriel's arc.

The reader should be warned that the main character is bisexual. This was my first time reading Amelia and I sure didn't expect that. Wasted money!
