About this ebook

Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.

Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly.

This is a good ebook. It emphasize on the poor situation of the women in the fantasy world of warlocks, though you may find many countries in the real world that have somewhat similar issues. I wanted it to be a bit more romantic as the title suggests. We got to see this unjust world with the eyes of the girl, Serena. If you want to read something less romantic and more focused on a fantasy realm, then this is for you.

In a world where women are seen as possessions men should own and control, Serena, the protagonist in this historical fantasy, has to navigate this cruel world she was born into. Having have known all her entire life that one day she is going to get married off to a powerful warlock by her father, when that time finally came, she couldn't believe it. The man that owned her and who was to be his husband got killed in a tournament of Spells, now she is owned by another warlock from another foreign country that is considered "barbaric" by her fellow countrymen. But this warlock is way different that she had expected, but how? Who is this Warlock and why is he different? This book was such a beautiful read for me. The storyline, although most of the time felt repetitive, was captivating enough for me to finish it. Feminists won't definitely enjoy it as it is set on patriarchal world where women are marginalized and oppressed. Characters were well developed and relatable. People who are open minded will definitely appreciate this book.

The facts, characters and descriptions were all spot in and the plot line is really good. The way all things come together is simply amazing. The bidding romance between characters and beginnings of lifelong friendships was a real treat. This was an amazing price of work
